About this course

This course is an intensive course where theory lessons, demonstrations, and practice between participants alternate throughout the day. It is intended for acupuncturists, as well as medical doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. Other registered health practitioners must have successfully passed at least six semesters of post high school education, that include classes of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics.

The participants will learn to evaluate musculoskeletal dysfunctions, with specific reference to the human fascial system, and to apply the Fascial Manipulation® technique as taught by Luigi Stecco. Lessons include anatomy and physiology of the fascial system, explanation of the biomechanical model used in application of this technique and the anatomical localization of key fascial points. The evaluation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions from anamnesis to hypothesis to verification and treatment is emphasized, together with the methodology of treatment and treatment strategies.

The 12-day Diploma course consists in 2 Levels:

  • Level I: 6 days (48 hours)
  • Level II: 6 days (48 hours)

The two Levels are interrelated. While a certificate is given on completion of each Level, for a complete qualification in Fascial Manipulation completion of Level II is required. Completion of Level II is also obligatory prior to enrolling in Level III (Fascial Manipulation for Internal Dysfunctions).

The Level I & II are scheduled some time apart (approximately 4 months) to allow for student practice and case report work. All FM Diploma courses are the same length therefore students can attend Level I in one location and Level II in another.

Each day usually begins at 8.30 until 18.30, with an hour for lunch and 2 coffee/tea breaks (midmorning and mid-afternoon). Variations in this time-table can be arranged according to specific group or organizational needs.

There is an exam at the end of each Level to appraise competency levels.

We suggest comfortable clothing such as tracksuits and shorts. Most women find 2-piece bathing costumes are comfortable for the practical sessions. Participants practice on each other during the practical sessions and are advised that the manual technique employed in Fascial Manipulation can be of some discomfort - in other words it is not necessarily a "painless technique". Full instruction will be given in correct dosage and guided patient support.

No video or photography is allowed during the theoretical lessons but photography is allowed during the practical demonstrations.
